Purpose and Objectives
The objective of the activity was to spread and disseminate the Criminal Trial Proceedings and actual trial procedures in the courtrooms. Basically, it is the process from FIR to trial.
Description
The objective was to enable students to be aware of the application of laws in factual situations in real-life scenarios. The court proceedings should be taken into consideration while preparing for a career in the legal field and thus practical experiences are important for a student. The students were able to make the memorials on their own and learnt so much about authorities, the jurisdiction of a court, how to analyze laws and cases and interpretation of law in particular adhering to court mannerisms. Students have confidence that they can speak in a manner that will be logically convincing and effective. They can participate in external Moot Court Competition more confidently. Ms. Neeraj Nagar describes about the Court setup and investigative machinery, and the lawyer’s responsibility in connection with the role of a criminal lawyer in a trial, with a special focus on cross-examination and examination technique. She also told about the Drafting of key criminal documents (FIR, complaint, Bail, Protest petition, SLP, etc.) with case management and litigation strategy. The discussion on the Operational aspects of building a criminal practice was also part of this workshop.
